Rosemary A. Townley has been a self-employed arbitrator and mediator in the New York City area since 1986.  She is a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators and the AAA's National Labor and Commercial Tribunals.  She has arbitrated and mediated disputes involving issues such as age/race/national origin discrimination, ADA/disability, sexual harassment, executive contracts breach claim/misappropriation, partnerships, change of control, wrongful termination/severance, intellectual property, and small firm dissolution, among other employment issues.

Ms. Townley was the 1999-2000 Chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section and has served on its Executive Committee since 1987.

A member of the Board of Advisors of the New York Employment Law & Practice (American Law Media/New York Law Journal Press) and contributing author to the soon-to-be-published How ADR Works (BNA, Norman Brand, editor-in-chief), Ms. Townley has lectured widely on the use of mediation in the labor and employment field at seminars at conferences sponsored by the ABA, the National Academy of Arbitrators, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the Georgetown Law Center Employment Law Litigation Institute.

She has served as an adjunct professor of law at St. John's University Law School since 1997 and was Co-Chair of its first Employment Law Litigation Institute, co-sponsored with the NYSBA Labor and Employment Law Section.
